Introduction: Serious business
Since I’m a new kid around these parts, here is my obligatory introduction post.
I’m Shalini, I’m 18, a sophomore Biology major at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, and a founding member and leadership officer of CMU’s Atheists, Agnostics, and Humanists (AHA) club. I’m also a huge evolution nerd and a fan of Stephen Jay Gould (the adaptationism vs pluralism debate is serious business, folks). I started getting interested in skepticism about the same time I got interested in evolution, which was sometime after my 12th birthday. After I got to college, I ended up discovering the CFI community of Pittsburgh and I am now the University Coordinator for their Advisory Board. Being involved in the skeptical movement made me aware of the need to encourage more young females to get involved and speak out, and to make a long story short, here I am on Teen Skepchick!
I have a myriad of interests, which include science, reading, atheism, lulz, video games, laughing at Dembski, music, the anti-Scientology movement, Linux, South Park, being an Apple hater; and generally being, as my friends calls it, “hilariously weird”.
I’m really excited at being a part of TS and meeting more awesome skeptical people. I will be posting more here soon, and I can also be found on Twitter here.
