Skepticism

President Obama

President Obama. President Obama. President Obama. It’ll take some time to get used to saying, but it sounds good, doesn’t it?

In his Inaugural Speech, Barack Obama mentioned restoring science “to it’s rightful place”. Woot, woot!!

He also mentioned non-believers. *I felt so included!*

I know some of you might be sick of hearing this, but we’ve come a looooooong way. An African American as president? That’s kind of awesome. Maybe we can overcome other differences in the future. It won’t be long before we see a woman president, for example. Hillary Clinton got close – and though Sarah Palin might not be my first choice of a good example, look how close she got. No, that door has definitely been opened for women.

So what other things do you think we’ll see in the future? Chinese-American president? Hispanic-American president? Jewish president? A robot president? (And how cool – not to mention scary – would a robot prez be??)

And as much as I wish it could happen, the chances for an Atheist president don’t look so good…even with all this “change” going on.

So to sum it all up:
Has anything really changed? For the better? Do you think other races/religions still have a way to go to overcome discrimination, or do you think that everyone now has an equal chance to become president of the US?

Oh, our first robot leader won’t be president. I’m sure he’ll be called Supreme Overlord, or Skynet, or the Continuum, or something like that.

    Has anything really changed?

My home state of Virginia, the capital of the Confederacy, not only became a blue state in ’08, but our 13 electorial votes pretty much sealed the election for Obama. The last time Virginia went to a Democrat was 40 years ago. As far as change goes, it’s a pretty big one in my neck of the woods.

Crossing my finger that president Obama is the real deal. I feel optimistic about this.

i thought that Apple is our supreme robotic overlord…

in other news, i think that this whole change thing will depend on how Obama’s first term goes.

Being the first African-American president is pretty cool, but awsome? What WILL be awsome is the time we elect a president where the question of color has no meaning at all.

We’ll all welcome our robot overlords.
Did I say overlords? I meant protectors.
