Skepticism

Tattoos and NECSS teaser

Not to encourage everyone to go get tattoos, but I love Carl Zimmer’s Science Tattoo Emporium. Just sayin’. As I was talking to my advisor the other day, nerd humor is so much about establishing an in-group. You understand my joke, you can be a part of my nerd club. (See: xkcd, smbc both possibly not safe for children).

And no, I don’t plan to get a science tattoo. I have been sort of pining away after these DNA earrings though. Enough about that. I really wanted to say this: I got to see Carl Zimmer & many of my other favorite science and skepticism people at NECSS Con this weekend. Unlike the lucky Cassie who was able to attend TAM this year, I’ve never seen any of these people in real life.

More on what I thought of the panels later–I would have to break out my notes and take a serious procrastination break from my neurobiology homework. Hopefully I won’t have to look up yet another paper on Drosophila brains.

I will have to say that it was a great experience, and truly an invigorating one to know that there are so many other skeptics out there working towards the same cause.
