Awesome Sauce Music Friday! The Nerd Anthem Edition

Being kind of nerdy or geeky can be kind of tough as a teen, especially when the goal of everyone else seems to be to fit in. Our featured artist this week knows all about that. Marian Call is a singer-songwriter from Alaska, whose music dips into aspects geek culture. Her voice is incredibly beautiful, and I think she’s a joy to listen to. Plus, she plays a typewriter. Plays a typewriter. That’s awesome.

So this week we are featuring her “nerd anthem,” “I’ll Still Be a Geek After Nobody Thinks It’s Chic” from her album Got to Fly. I know, I know…she’s conflating “geek” and “nerd,” which are clearly separate and distinct identities, but the song is still amazing. Have a listen, and happy Friday!
