Speak Your Mind: Spotify
It’s been a couple of weeks since I received my Spotify invitation. I’ll be honest: I’ve been waiting for this service to travel across the pond from Europe for years. Sure, I’ve had Pandora and Last.fm. But sometimes when I want to listen to The Police (shut up), I want to listen to The Police. Not bands like The Police. And as someone who would spend everything she earns on music, the idea of millions of tracks for free was almost too good.
I have been enjoying it very much. Very much. I opted for the free version because…it’s free. I don’t loathe commercials enough to pay $5 or $10 per month. There are limitations, but again, they don’t cause me a great deal of distress.
When I’m totally disgusted with my collection of music, I can just jump on Spotify and find something that better fits my mood. It’s not that I won’t buy music anymore. But now I can try out albums before I buy them. For example, I’m totally buying the new Arctic Monkeys album, Suck It and See after listening to it on Spotify.
But now I’m just gushing. Tell us what you think!
Do you have a Spotify account? Do you like it? Will you stop buying/illegally downloading music from other websites? What type of music do you listen to? Does what you listen to for free differ from what you will purchase?
