Awesome Sauce Music Friday: The D Is Back Edition

Awesome Sauce Music Friday: The D Is Back Edition

It’s been a long wait, too long perhaps, between the release of the movie/album combo that was Tenacious D’s ‘The Pick of Destiny’, long enough perhaps, for a sizable chunk of you to only know Jack Black as an actor and Kyle Gass  as… well, a lesser known actor. But there is hope for even you; because despite the fact  that I probably shouldn’t post the album cover on a site that welcomes all ages to its doors, I’m going to be filling you in on the badly spelled new Tenacious D album: ‘Rize of The Fenix’.

What you just saw was a trailer featuring Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl, and a taste of the awesomeness to come. Buy/download this album and get your metal fingers ready, because rock is back and it’s got a sense of humor.

In all seriousness, despite the fact that Tenacious D are a parody band, it strikes me that there are actually some really cool musical moments on each album; and though the gaps between their (currently 3) albums have been long, they’ve been worth it for the hilarity and the awesomeness.

Before you watch/listen to this week’s featured song, be warned that there are many F-bombs dropped in the uncensored version, and be aware that there are many… phallic images. I hope you guys find them funny and not offensive. Enjoy yourselves and remember to stay awesome.
