Speak Your Mind: Shut. It. Down.

So the United States doesn’t have a government anymore. OK. That’s not true. It has been shut down. No spending bill, no money to operate. Regardless of how you feel about the politics of it all, this shut down will have drastic effects on people who can ill-afford to deal with them. Veterans, the poor, anyone who works for the federal government, the elderly are all totally getting the short straw. This shut down is even getting in the way of Title IX investigations. Plus, NASA is basically totally shut down. Everything is terrible.

I (barely) remember the last time this happened in 1996. At the time I wasn’t really effected (I mean, I was in middle school) and I didn’t know anyone who was effected. This time around, however, I know several people who are out of work and it’s messing up an outside project I’m working on. Those who say that this shut down won’t effect our day-to-day lives are living in a bubble.

Do you know anyone effected by the government shut down? If you live outside the United States, how is this playing? Exactly how ridiculous is this on a scale of 1 to flaming bananas?
