Geeky Thanksgiving Facts

Here are some nerdy facts and videos that I found via Google.

Turkeys have heart attacks. When the Air Force was conducting test runs and breaking the sound barrier, fields full of turkeys would drop dead from the noise.

Fossil evidence shows that turkeys roamed the Americas 10 million years ago.
On the West Coast of the US, Dungeness crab is common as an alternate main dish instead of turkey, as crab season starts in early November.

The ‘wishbone’ of the turkey is used in a good luck ritual on Thanksgiving Day. I pointed this one out because I fear it is not true. (I wished on a wishbone once and it failed to work because my extended family stayed in my house for 4 more hours.)

Lobster was probably included in the original Thanksgiving gathering.

There is a family of scary wild turkeys that live in the woods behind my house. I like to chase them.

Here is a turkey singing “New York New York” (WARNING: I fear a turkey was injured before the making of this film)

Here is some turkeys playing soccer.

Have a great Thanksgiving everyone!
