Spontaneous Philosophical Tea Party™

SQUEE! It’s the Philosophical Tea Party™!

We’re going to be doing these more often so my question for today…

Is this title epic or what?

I sort of got the idea from when I read Sophie’s World in middle school, one of the books that really influenced me to become a critical thinker even though it’s not exactly something you think of when you think skeptical literature. It’s a great book for critical thinking by simple virtue of questioning everything.

And is the trademark symbol just more epic even though I sort of stole the idea?

The title is not just epic. It is DESCRIPTIVE. Everyone knows that lady philosophers only work when there is tea in the system.

Anyway, I’ve not heard of this book Sophie’s World. Tell me more about it.

It’s a history of philosophy, basically, and it’s about this girl who gets these random questions in the mail from this random guy about “is there a God?” or “how did the world begin?” or “what is the world made of?” or “is nature more important than nurture” etc. And then it goes into the philosophers who asked those questions and the answers they gave.

    It’s quite good like that.
