Words to the Wise

Words to the Wise: There’s a Word For That

Hello fellow linguistic lovers. I don’t have a whole lot of info for you today from my own research, mostly because I have spent the entire last week drooling over this site. It is all kinds of beautiful: a list of things you didn’t know had names but that do. My favorites so far are petrichor (because I have always loved the smell after the rain) and dysania (because it happens to me every day).

And despite the fact that there are some overlaps between these two lists, Merriam-Webster is right behind with their list of things you didn’t know had names.

Other lists can be found here, here, and here.
