Awesome Sauce Music Friday! Bowie in Space Edition
Today I’ve been a little obsessed with the launch of the space shuttle Atlantis, the final space shuttle mission. (Even more, I’m way jealous that Skepchick Maria was able to attend the the NASA Tweetup. I mean, really, who gets to do that?)
So today, I want to dedicate this edition of Awesome Sauce Music Friday to the end of an era in U.S. space travel. I tried to think of an appropriate song. I could have gone with something by They Might Be Giants, and there is always the unparalleled style of William Shatner.
But neither of these really captured the wonder and awe I still feel when I think about how we, as humans, have managed to escape the pull of the Earth’s gravity. That is truly amazing. As far as we know, we are the only living beings to have achieved that feat. I’m getting misty just thinking about it! (Yeah, I cried during the Atlantis launch. What’s it to you?) So I’ve decided on Space Oddity by David Bowie. It sounds like what I would feel if I ever saw Earth from space. So, without further ado, sit back and enjoy some Bowie (as if you could help it.)
As a bonus, if you missed it, here is the launch of Atlantis. OMG! I’m crying again!

I know this is a teen site, but if anyone asks who David Bowie is, I will die. DIE.
