Speak Your Mind: The Most Annoying Questions in the World

School is starting up again. This time of year always reminds me of the two most annoying questions I was asked all the time: What is your major? and What are you going to do with that?

This was mostly annoying because I was a political science major, and I had no idea what I wanted to do with it. (Although, as I sit in the middle of the day watching The IT Crowd, it’s become evident that I should have done something computer-y.) I think it’s kind of unfair to require your average 18 year old to know what they want to do with the rest of their lives. I always felt a lot of pressure to know exactly where my life was going. Or to at least act like it.

Do you feel this kind of pressure? Are people always bugging you about your life plans? Or do you, unlike me, have it all together?

I HATE THIS QUESTION. I’m a philosophy and religion major. I’m probably destined to live in a cardboard box and I always get a look like “oh. You’re WEIRD” when I mention my majors. I don’t want to tell you that I have spent three years studying something pointless and I’m scared out of my wits for graduation.

I did chemical engineering and I would get one of 2 reactions.
    1) whats that?
    2) wow thats sounds Interesting (translation lol nerd)

Then they would swiftly change topic.
I think it was made worse being in the uk because a lot fewer people do engineering overthere.
