Speak Your Mind

Speak Your Mind: Occupy!

It’s been about a month since the Occupy movement started with a protest in New York City, and it’s spread across the country and the world. The protests are about a variety of things, but at its core I think it’s about money and its influence on politics, and how that influence leads to what many perceive to breach of the social contract between the people and their government.

I think the protests are incredibly moving, and the Tumblr We Are The 99 Percent never fails to send me spiraling into weepy tears. Earlier this week, Nenfea wrote about her experience at the Occupy Minneapolis protests and replied to much of the protest’s criticisms and has discussed why young people should be paying attention. But now we want to hear from you.

What do you think about the protests? Are they just lazy bums who don’t want to work, or do you think they have a point? Do you think it has staying power, or just a flash in the pan? Are you worried about your own professional future? Are you rethinking your future plans?
