Awesome Sauce Music Friday

Awesome Sauce Music Friday! Manhattan in January Edition

Good afternoon! It’s time for another Awesome Sauce Music Friday! CAPS LOCK EXCITEMENT.

Have you ever noticed the dearth of songs about global climate change? Well it’s true. There aren’t that many. Which is why we’re happy to present this week’s tune, “A Happy Song About Global Warming” by Jill Sobule.

Jill is a singer/songwriter, originally from Denver, Colorado. She sings about a variety of topics, ranging from the Christian Right, the French resistance movement, and the death penalty. In 1995 she released “I Kissed a Girl,” which was the first song to crack the Top 40 that dealt with LGBTQ themes. The video we have for you today is a TED recording from 2006. Its whimsy masks the song’s underlying darkness. Nothing like potential global catastrophe to start your weekend off right! So…enjoy!
