Awesome Sauce Music Friday! Have You Tried Turning It Off and On Again? Edition

Welcome, friends, to another installment of Awesome Sauce Music Friday! Today we have a bit of a double recommendation: a song and a television program. I know it’s exciting, you have to stop screaming so you can hear me.

Today’s song comes to us from Superpowerless, featuring Sparkles*, MC Wreckshin, B-Type, and  Happi. The tune is simply titled, “The IT Crowd.” If you don’t know what The IT Crowd is, please let me enlighten you.

“The IT Crowd” is a truly hilarious British show about a couple of computer nerds, Moss and Roy (played by Richard Ayoade and Chris O’Dowd) and their computer illiterate boss (Katherine Parkinson.) OK, so it falls victims to a lot of the old, tired tropes of the socially inept nerd and the technically stupid woman, but it’s more than that. I recommend you check it out on Netflix.

Anyhoo! The song “The IT Crowd” basically a rap homage to the show. If you know the show, it’s kind of delightful. If you don’t, go watch all four seasons and listen again. It’s for your own good, really.

The IT Crowd is by Graham Linehan, who also created Black Books (about a misanthropic book store owner and starring Dylan Moran, Bill Bailey, and Tamsin Greig) and Father Ted (about a trio of hapless priests living on a podunk Irish island and including a lecherous alcoholic priest who only ever says ‘drink!’ and ‘girls!’ and ‘feck!’).

All three shows are pure genius.
