Speak Your Mind: Not-So-Humblebrag
If there is one thing I’ve learned from working with the writers of Teen Skepchick over the past year and a half it’s that I am utterly and depressingly average. Seriously. I love these girls and boys but, damn. These are some impressive young’uns. Not a day goes by where I don’t get an email that doesn’t result in the slight deflation of my ego.
While it’s hard to admit that there are people – younger people! – who are heads and shoulders better than me in…everything…it can be inspiring, too. Look at this: an Egyptian 19-year-old has potentially changed space travel as we know it. This 16-year-old made advances in bio-fuel. Shree Bose cured cancer. CANCER! If you guys are the future, I think the human race is going to be OK.
I know that this is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to awesome young people who are changing the world. I am willing to bet that some of Teen Skepchick’s wonderful readers have some pretty impressive project of their own. OK, so maybe you’re not curing cancer, but I’m sure you are mega impressive. So…
Are you working on anything you’re excited about? A research project. An art project, perhaps? Any cool accomplishments you’ve been dying to let us in on? Do you have a cool internship you want to brag about?
