Speak Your Mind: Caution! Dangerous Ideas Ahead
This week is Banned Books Week, a time of year where we celebrate the freedom to read, especially those books some deem too unorthodox. Some of the great literary classics have been challenged as inappropriate, including one of my favorite books of all time: 1984. Back in April, the American Library Association released a list of the most challenged books of 2011. Titles on that list include classics like To Kill a Mockingbird and Brave New World alongside newer books like The HungerGames trilogy.
What are you favorite banned books? Do you celebrate Banned Books Week? If so, how?
