Speak Your Mind: Doctor…Who?
As you’ve probably heard by now, Matt Smith has announced he will leave Doctor Who after playing the eponymous character since 2010.
I’m sort of meh about this announcement. (Although most of my beef comes from Moffat, but that’s a rant for another day.) Smith wasn’t the first Doctor, and he won’t be the last. And, more subjectively important, Smith isn’t my Doctor. He wasn’t the Doctor I was first introduced to. If he was, maybe I would be able to muster up more than a “meh.”
But he was fine and fun to watch, and it will be interesting to see who the BBC chooses as his replacement. (Especially after accusations that the show is “thunderingly racist.”) Maybe we’ll see our first black/Asian/Pakistani/[insert literally any race except white here] Doctor! That would be exciting. Or perhaps that dream I had the other night in which Gillian Anderson played the Doctor with a male companion is a premonition? Hey, a girl can hope.
Who do you want to play the 12th Doctor? What qualities would you like to see in the next Doctor? What do you think about the lack of diversity in Doctor casting? What are the odds that Moffat will just make River Song the Doctor, thus making a weird space-time loop in which he facilitates his own birth and marries himself?

Nikki Amuka Bird. That is all.
Oh my glob. That would be amazing.
Although now that I’ve seen this (http://www.themarysue.com/maurice-moss-doctor-who/), I’m torn.
Didn’t one of the Dr. Who actors marry the daughter of one of the earlier Dr. Who actors, or something like that?
Yeah, David Tennant did that. I think they have a kid now. I know it’s not incestuous, but it kind of feels incestuous…
