Speak Your Mind: Loving Things
I’m not afraid to get excited about things. I’m actually very easily excitable. But, as far as I can remember, I have never been as excited as this little girl who is experiencing rain for the first time. The video isn’t too long. Give it gander.
I’m actually incredibly jealous of this tot. Just look at her! She is so in awe of something as simple as rain, something that she’ll probably experience a million more times in her life. But at that moment, water falling from the sky was the most mind-blowing event in the history of everything. The enthusiasm is just pouring out of her, no pun intended. I’m not sure I’ve ever had a similar experience. But I’ll keep looking.
Have you ever experienced anything that left you so overwhelmed that you couldn’t keep it inside? What was it? How old were you? Do you think the odds of having your mind blown increase or decrease with age?

I’m probably missing something (sound doesn’t work on this computer), but it seems odd to me that a kid old enough to walk would be encountering rain for the FIRST time. Could it be that she has seen rain before, but has not yet lost the ability to have her mind blown?
Ah, sorry. That’s my fault. Where the video was first shared, it says that the girl is 15 months old and is in the rain for the first time: http://colorlines.com/archives/2014/02/sweet_baby_girl_laughs_in_the_rain_for_the_first_time.html
I think it’s believable that she may not have encountered rain. I’ve always lived in a place where it rains quite often, but that’s not the case everywhere, right? Plus, it could just be that this is the first time they’ve let her outside in the rain. That seems plausible to me.
