Awesome Sauce Music Friday: The Wrath of Hell on the Golden Records

Continuing with the Voyager Interstellar Record, because I love that I live in an age where such a thing is available in its entirety on youtube, this is the Queen of the Night’s Aria, “Der Holle Rache Kocht in Meinem Herzen” from Mozart’s The Magic Flute.  I absolutely love this aria, but I’m not sure I like that it’s on the interstellar record.  It’s about emotional blackmail and murder, as in it  the Queen of the Night is telling her daughter that if the daughter does not murder some guy, her mother won’t love her anymore.  It is an accurate representation of humanity, I suppose, but I would have voted for a more optimistic representation. Something from The Barber of Seville maybe.
